The Atonement

What theory of atonement does the Bible teach?

The Bible does NOT teach a theory of atonement. It teaches a fact, the glorious fact that every one of our sins was laid upon Jesus Christ. (Isaiah 53:6; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 2:24). As a result of Jesus Chris having born our sins, there is not only pardon for every sin but also justification, which is more than pardon. The Bible teaches that because Jesus Christ took our place on the Cross, the moment we accept Jesus Christ, we step into His place, the place of perfect acceptance before God. We become "the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). We no longer have our own poor, pitiable, unsatisfactory righteousness but a perfect righteousness, the righteousness of God in Christ (Philippians 3:9).
